Lorenzo Rositano - Tenor

Twenty four year old Tenor, Lorenzo Rositano completed an Advanced Diploma of Opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, under the vocal tuition of the Chair of Vocal Studies and Opera, Maree Ryan. Lorenzo is currently undertaking studies in a Master of Music Studies, Opera.

Lorenzo completed a year of training and Graduated from the prestigious Talent Development Project. The Programme was developed & is directed by Mary Lopez, also the Director of The Schools Spectacular, which Lorenzo was a soloist of for 4 consecutive years and was telecasted on the ABC every year. Lorenzo was asked back as a Special Guest in 2008 to perform the aria Nessun Dorma from Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot.

Lorenzo has been a recipient of numerous scholarships, including the Dr. H. Greenberg Scholarship, the Hon. John Brown Sports and Tourism Youth Foundation (sponsored by Western Australia benefactor Peter & Dianne Laurance of Laurance Wine) and Margaret Henderson Scholarships as well as the Helpmann Family Fellowship.

Lorenzo undertook a period of intense study in the United Kingdom with international coaches as a winner of the 2010 Big Brother Movement LTD Scholarship. This experience enabled him to gain invaluable insights to international career expectations.

As a principal artist, Lorenzo is experienced in both concert performances and opera. In opera, his credits include Ernestro in La Vera Costanza (Joseph Haydn) conducted by Imre Palló; Alcino in Prima Donna (Arthur Benjamin) conducted by Carolyn Watson; l’Italien in Angélique (Jacques Ibert) conducted by Cristian Cimei; Alfred in Die Fledermaus (Johann Strauss) conducted by Imre Palló; Le Journaliste in Les Mamelles de Tirésias (Francis Poulenc) conducted by Philip Chu; The Mayor in Albert Herring (Benjamin Britten) conducted by Stephen Mould and Florville in Il Signor Bruschino (Gioacchino Rossini) conducted by Sadaharu Muramatsu.

Choral works as soloist include Messa di Gloria (Giacomo Puccini) and Stabat Mater (Gioacchino Rossini) for the Sydney University Graduate Choir and Orchestra conducted by Christopher Bowen.

Internationally, Lorenzo claimed national headlines in 2006 when he was selected by the Australian Olympic Committee to perform the Australian national anthem at the Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy.
In 2009 Lorenzo was Tenor soloist in Messa di Gloria (Giacomo Puccini) in New Caledonia with the New Caledonia Choir and Orchestra conducted by Plamen Tzontchev.

After completion of his studies in Australia, Lorenzo Rositano intends to continue his career internationally.
